Winning or Losing...which is better?

When people enter the competitive mindset, they start deliberating winning or losing.

Will I win? Will I loose? What is at stake?

These are the questions which flood people's minds at critical moments in a tennis match, in business negotiations and in relationships...

If you have been reading any of my other posts, you may guess what I am about to say.

There is little benefit to us thinking in this way.

We are involving the judgmental part of our minds, which cannot be a source of happiness or long lasting joy, nor can it provide helpful information in the choice moment.

Instead, we need to let go of this thinking style as soon as we notice it.

Once we notice the competitive mindset coming up, we can ask an alternative questions, such as:

What am I scared of?

Who can I help in this situation?

How can I help in this situation?

Yours,

Peter
